Forget the classic poster or the standardised billboard. Today, hand-painted advertising is reinventing urban communication and restoring the prestige of mural art. Whether it’s a giant advertising mural on a Parisian building, a handcrafted sign in a rapidly changing neighbourhood, or a painted truck travelling the roads, the impact is immediate: passers-by stop, take photos, and share on social media.

This technique, which survived the advertising era and the great upheavals of the 20th century, is now experiencing a spectacular comeback. For a company, a brand or a product, it's an opportunity to offer a powerful message, a unique visual experience and an artistic heritage that transcends time. More than an advertisement, it's an aesthetic creation, a story painted directly onto the city.

Street Designers supports you with these two formats of’Urban Ads in the service of a creative urban communication and a genuine Urban Impact. Discover everything that can be done to give your campaigns a unique artistic flair.

A large-format advertisement painted directly onto an external building wall.

One Advertising mural is a hand-painted advertisement on a building façade. The artwork covers the surface of a building, often on a street corner or a large gable. Far from being a simple sticker, this handcrafted painting brings the brand image to life, generates word-of-mouth buzz and naturally fuels social media activity whilst the work is being carried out.

In Paris, near La Défense, in the heart of the 15th arrondissement or in the inner suburbs, the Giant mural advertising integrates into the landscape and appeals to passers-by, local residents and urban art enthusiasts alike.

Who is involved in urban advertising campaigns?

The in-house team of Street designers, supported by professional painters from our network. We specialise in large-format reproductions, typography, realistic art and graphic styles inspired by the’Street art.

Our team manages the artistic direction, the adaptation of the visuals to the digital format, as well as the entire production of the Urban artistic advertising painted.

Whether on or on bodywork, the work is entirely done by hand to preserve the authenticity of our art.

How is the production of a painted facade advertisement carried out?

Once we have identified the wall or walls where your artwork will be displayed, we will carry out a site survey and create a 3D model of the design on the chosen façade. A simulation will then allow us to confirm the layout and scale, making it easier to visualise the final result.

We also handle the necessary administrative permits with the local council. We then establish the work area, ensuring safety both on the ground and on the lifting platform. We provide aerial work platforms suited to the size of the wall, and our artists—who hold CASES aerial work platform licences—get to work on the advertising mural, equipped with their personal protective equipment (PPE).

Our paints meet current environmental standards.

Media and social media side: we provide media coverage of the construction site through interviews, photos, videos and aerial shots to fuel your advertising campaign communications.

Where to launch an urban advertising campaign?

We offer a portfolio of available and negotiated advertising spaces within central Paris, the inner suburbs, and major thoroughfares in Lyon, Marseille and Lille: our urban advertising campaign is deployed at locations specifically chosen for their high visibility.

A wall near a train station, close to a shopping centre or at a strategic junction offers high visibility. Our team advises brands on footfall, viewing angles and feasibility, taking into account the desired impact and the complexity of the artwork.

Why choose a painted mural advertisement over a classic billboard?

Live creation elicits wonder and prompts passers-by to question the mural's purpose, generating a continuous flow of photos and stories over several days. Once completed, the painted advertisement continues to captivate, being photographed and shared by passers-by on social media. This artisanal technique enhances the brand and establishes a deep emotional connection. In summary, it allows for increased visibility and memorability, and a modern, high-end image for the advertiser.

According to an American study by M.Four: Hand-painted advertisements increase attention span (+65% compared to traditional displays) and improve recall (+25% on average).

Painted advertising truck: urban advertising on the move

Home Street Designers, we are reinventing urban communication by offering an original and artistic advertising concept: transforming your vehicles into living billboards for Street Media.

One painted advertising lorry is no longer just a means of transport: it becomes a moving canvas, one travelling mural which travels through Paris, the ring road during rush hour, Île-de-France and major street marketing events. Our mural artists work directly on the front, rear, and side panels of partner trucks to create a mobile work of art that is both aesthetic and advertising.

This approach allows us to go far beyond conventional display. campaign becomes flexible and impactful Vehicles travel through the heart of urban flow, becoming visible in strategic neighbourhoods, and generating a strong element of surprise among passers-by and motorists. The result: communication that catches the eye, feeds social media thanks to shared photos, and indelibly inscribes the brand onto the urban landscape.

With advertising lorries, Advertising comes to the public, not the other way around. A simple, mobile, and creative way to reach a wide audience while standing out with a strong, original identity

Budget and terms: how much to budget?

Budgets vary depending on the surface area, the complexity of the visual and the duration of use. For a painted advertising lorry, the budget starts at €5,000 for a simple operation and can reach €50,000 for a creative setup with multiple vehicles, original creation, and media coverage.

For a wall advertisement mural, the estimate is based on the size of the facade, the complexity of the design, the reputation of the artists involved, and the duration of the campaign; the team provides a detailed quote after an on-site visit and simulation. Design, production, safety, logistics, and removal of the support are included in the offer. For a small, simple wall, some productions start at €3,000.

The technical and administrative constraints of a hand-painted advertisement.

Behind every painted mural advertisement, there is a real preparation process often invisible to the general public. Before applying the first brushstroke, the wall must first be identified: its exposure, its size, the quality of the substrate (gable end, old facade, bare concrete…). This step makes it possible to determine the technical feasibility and to anticipate the durability of the paint.

Next come the administrative authorisations. In Paris as in the provinces, a request to the town hall or the building owner is mandatory. Depending on the area, there may be specific rules related to urban planning or heritage.

Logistically, implementation involves securing the worksite: installing barriers, cherry pickers or scaffolding, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for the painters. The choice of paints is also strategic: today, many artists and advertisers favour ecological products, resistant to UV rays and weathering, to guarantee a lasting visual impact.

Wall and lorry owners: how to offer your surface?

Do you have a truck and are very mobile in the Paris region, or do you have a well-exposed gable in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, or along a busy route in a peri-urban area? Offer us your space! We analyse the location, check feasibility, manage administrative procedures, and oversee painted wall advertising from A to Z.

Rest assured: for your wall spaces, the intervention respects the structure, its surroundings, and the neighbours.

For trucks, we have temporary adhesive solutions suitable for paintwork.

For advertisers and businesses, investing in an advertising mural or a painted lorry remains a unique way to stand out in a world saturated with commercial messages. More than a communication medium, it is a piece of urban art that combines aesthetics, heritage, and long-term visibility.
