Street Designers X Angoulême: Participatory live painting
As its international comic festival approaches, the municipality of Angoulême, in Charente, has decided to raising awareness among everyone with a mural aimed at denouncing domestic violence, which is sadly still on the rise in France. In this sense, she decided to contact us to host a Open-access participatory mural intended for all those who wished to bravely come and contribute to its realisation.
This is our talented artistic coach Check, A street artist who no longer needs to prove himself in the urban art scene, who moved to lead this work composed of four canvases. The objective was to work on a design consisting from one gloomy slope to another, more luminous side. Thus, by this dichotomy, A path of hope was depicted, within which the illustrations represent single-parent families surrounded by keywords of high symbolic value.
After an upstream prototyping phase to ensure the work fully meets the council's expectations, the endorsed graffiti artist Street Designers was able to prepare it facing the town hall. For this type of Collective work we are used to to incorporate tape into masking areas so that participants do not overflow during colouring. This approach can be compared to using layers in Photoshop. so that the development proceeds gradually and smoothly.
Once prepared, pedestrians and onlookers have come of their own accord to contribute to this fresco which by its nature points to a major subject still too taboo within our society.
